ISLAMABAD,25 DEC (DNA) -Ph. D & M. Phil students of the Quaid-e-Azam University, Mathematics Department are still waiting for the judgment of Federal Ombudsman to be implemented, quashing disciplinary action by the university administration against them.
Seven students of the Ph. D and three of M. Phil program fear that their academic year could be wasted because the university is not taking any action to implement the verdict.
On December 8 the Federal Ombudsman accepted the plea of the students and ordered the university to quash disciplinary case against the students or make a new disciplinary committee without the Chairman of Mathematics Department ‘who does not seem to enjoy confidence and due respect from its students.’
The Federal Ombudsman also directed the university to arrange the viva of the students within 15 days.
The students have already submitted their research thesis but still they are not being called for the viva, which could ultimately cause delay in award of degrees. DNA
