ISLAMABAD: Dr Tahirul Qadri, PAT chief, said Tuesday that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif were solely responsible for the Model Town tragedy.
Talking to media, he said that judicial probe commission in its report has also held the chief minister responsible for June 17 tragedy in which, over a dozen PAT workers were shot dead.
Qadri said that police snipers and shooters were called at the spot on direct orders of the chief minister.
PAT leader questioned why Shahbaz Sharif has not resigned even after the commission’s report.He demanded that prime minister and chief minister should be arrested and brought to justice.
“Capital punishment should be awarded to both of them,” he demanded. Dr. Tahirul Qadri maintained that it was impossible for Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif not to know that there was an operation going on in Model Town for 14 hours. He said that the Police should have brought High Court orders to remove the barriers outside Minhajul Quran International (MQI) Secretariat.
He alleged that the operation was carried out on directions of CM Punjab and the operation was constantly monitored. He said that it was impossible for Police to bypass CM Punjab’s orders. Qadri said that truth has come out now. He questioned that in what capacity Principal Secretary Tauqeer Shah presided over the meeting on June 16 and why is this report not being published”, ?
