MULTAN: The Government of Punjab on Saturday constituted a three-member committee to probe Multan stampede that claimed lives of seven people and injured more than 40. Secretary Environment Protection Punjab Iqbal Muhammad Chauhan will head the inquiry committee while DIG Ali Aamir Malik and Special Secretary Home Punjab Doctor Shoaib Akbar will be its members. The Committee will present its report after probing the incident from different angles. The stampede occurred on Friday at the end of a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf rally organized by cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan at Ibne Qasim Bagh Stadium in the northeastern Multan city. Reportedly, the commotion started when power supply went off and rally participants rushed towards the exit gates.
