RAWALPINDI, Jan 23 (INP): On increasing complaints by patients for non availability of free medicines in all government run hospitals of Rawalpindi, the Punjab government taking notice has decided to take action against the concerned authorities if they found involvement in any wrong doing and sought a detailed report in this regard.
The Punjab government is providing annul funds to all hospitals of province including Rawalpindi for giving free medicines to the patients in emergency departments but the patents are continuously complaining non availability of free medicines in the allied hospitals including Benazir Bhutto, Holy Family and District headquarters hospital. Taking notice of this, Punjab chief minister has directed administrations of the hospitals to send detailed lists of stock of medicines to provincial health authority.
The chief minister also sought separate lists of medicines which are being used in emergency section of the hospitals after which concerned authority would take steps for further provision of medicines. In case any irregularity was found, strict action against hospital administration would be taken.
It is also learnt that health officials would pay surprised visits to all government hospitals for monitoring services to the patients.
