LAHORE (INP): The Punjab Assembly on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution congratulating Malala Yousafzai on winning the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize.
The resolution was presented by the provincial law minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rahman.
It lauded Malala’s win and her efforts in raising her voice for girls’ education and stated that the provincial government will ensure all measures to continue its efforts for the provision of education for children.
Malala jointly won the Nobel Prize with India’s Kailash Satyarthi for their work promoting children’s rights on October 10.
Malala is the youngest person to be awarded the prestigious annual prize.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has congratulated teenage education campaigner Malala on winning the Nobel Peace Prize, calling her the “pride” of his country.
“She is (the) pride of Pakistan. She has made her countrymen proud. Her achievement is unparalleled and unequalled. Girls and boys of the world should take the lead from her struggle and commitment,” he said in a statement.
