KARACHI: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Tuesday said the authority was working to remove fault that reported in international submarine cables.
“A fault in one of the international submarine cables has been reported in the sea near Karachi affecting some internet traffic in peak hours,” the PTA said
“Work is underway to remove a fault reported in one of the international submarine cables in the sea near Karachi that affected some internet traffic,” it added.

In a statement, the PTA said that authority has directed operators to ensure uninterrupted internet services through alternate routes.

Alternate arrangements to provide uninterrupted internet services to the users have been made by relevant service providers through obtaining additional bandwidth and capacity to meet the requirements, read the statement.
Earlier today it emerged that a submarine cable fault has affected the internet speed in Pakistan.
The fault has affected the internet speed by 1 terabyte in the country after which the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has started to shift internet traffic to other cables.
Southeast Asia–Middle East–Western Europe 4 (SEA-ME-WE 4) is an optical fibre submarine communications cable system that carries telecommunications between Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Egypt, Italy, Tunisia, Algeria and France.
