Protest against prolonged power outages in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: A large number of citizens held protest demonstration against prolonged power outages here on Friday evening.

According to details, residents of Shah Khalid Colony near Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Rawalpindi took to streets against the loadshedding of several hours especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

The protestors blocked the road and chanted slogans against the officials of IESCO for ensure smooth power supply and warned of city wide protests and jamming the city if their demands were not looked into.

District Administration officials visited the people participating the protest demonstration and held dialogues. They assured them of ensuring smooth power supply and looking into their justified demands after which dispersed peacefully with a threat to again take to streets if the pledges made to them were not fulfilled shortly.
