KARACHI (INP): A number of prominent businessmen including former Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) president joined the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) on Wednesday.
In a press conference PSP chief Mustafa Kamal welcomed former KCCI president Saeed Shafiq and another businessman Mubashir Imam into the party. He also welcomed Dr Zubair Mirza, a surgeon, into the party.
The former city mayor said that their political opponents alleged that the establishment arrests people and forces them to join us.
He said that rumours are rife that PSP leader Waseem Aftab was meeting arrested workers of [the MQM] and pressurising them to join their party. “Waseem Aftab did not visit the jail,” he said, adding, “What would we do with a worker who is in jail?”
He said that 12 parliamentarians of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan are ready to join PSP but its chief Farooq Sattar is threatening them with arrests by the establishment if they do so. INP
