Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the framework comprising digital infrastructure, digitization, adoption of new digital activities and digital services for exports can be a catalyst for foreign direct investment, which is a very important milestone towards providing an investor-friendly environment in the country.
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Press Wing, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif welcomed Pakistan’s joining the joint Digital Foreign Direct Investment Initiative of the World Economic Forum and the Digital Cooperation Organization, saying that Pakistan is the first country to adopt the Digital Foreign Direct Investment Initiative under the World Economic Forum.
Pakistan’s first digital FDI project is making significant efforts to promote digital development with identified targets.
The Prime Minister said that the plan includes a framework for digital infrastructure, digitization, new digital activities and digital services for exports, which will focus on sectors that can attract foreign direct investment, a very important milestone towards providing an investor-friendly environment in the country.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan is moving towards an inclusive digital economy, which is a step towards sustainable growth and prosperity. This initiative reflects the commitment of the Government of Pakistan to promote economic development.
