ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza, which was long awaited.
In a post on the social networking website X, he appreciated the tireless efforts of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Egypt and other countries in making the agreement workable.
Shehbaz Sharif said that the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and other war-torn areas was of utmost importance. The Prime Minister expressed hope that the ceasefire agreement would be implemented in full.
He said that Pakistan stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people and pays tribute to those who have sacrificed their lives and property in the struggle against Israeli aggression for the past several decades.
The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s demand for a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with UN resolutions.
