Islamabad: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will respond to questions raised by the opposition parties in parliament today, this was stated by Minister of State for Privatization Muhammad Zubair Umar while speaking in Roze News program Current Affairs.
The Minister said that there is no perception of corruption in government in the public and this is just a theory perpetuated by certain television anchors and analysts. The Minister was responding to the earlier comment of Air Marshal (retd) Shahid Latif in which he claimed that the government prioritizes only those projects where it can receive kickbacks. Zubair added that his party has emerged victorious in both the by-elections that have been conducted after the emergence of Panama Papers. Shahid Latif questioned Zubair regarding the turn out in these elections and said that have we ever kept in mind the 51% turn out in polls clause.
Responding to a question the Minister said that the government has already responded to the seven questions raised by the opposition parties and further added that neither Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan nor Pakistan Peoples Party leader Aitzaz Ahsan are ‘teachers’ who can demand answers from the government but added that the Prime Minister will touch upon the opposition’s questions in the Parliament on Monday (today).
The Minister labeled Imran Khan the ‘father of off-shore companies’ and said that those demanding answers from the government can’t even answer question regarding a single transaction. He further asked as to why Imran Khan never declared his off-shore company in Pakistan and added that the leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have the highest number of off-shore companies. Zubair said that there is no allegation whatsoever on the Prime Minister to which the retired Air Marshal questioned as to why the Prime Minister addressed the nation multiple times on TV when there is no allegation on him. The debate ended with Zubair Umar complaining to Shahid Latif that he (Shahid Latif) is always pushing towards military rule in the country. Shahid Latif responded by saying that military rule is your wish and when we ask you to settle the disputes in the parliament you start taking steps towards military rule.
