Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has invited investors and foreign companies to work with us to equip agriculture with modern technology, increase exports, promote industry and promote useful employment in Pakistan.
Addressing the Digital Foreign Direct Investment Conference, the Prime Minister welcomed digital delegates from all over the world to the conference and said that he welcomes IT ministers, deputy ministers and IT experts from more than 11 friendly countries on their arrival in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister said that the digital world today has an extraordinary impact in all sectors, today’s digital world has changed completely compared to two decades ago, we distributed 400,000 laptops among the youth on merit during my tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab, and the rural economy, especially agriculture, was digitized under the World Bank program.
The Prime Minister said that 60 percent of Pakistan’s population consists of youth who can take advantage of the huge opportunities available in the digital world. Pakistani youth are very talented and they are rendering outstanding services all over the world including Pakistan.
The Prime Minister said that in March, remittances worth $4.1 billion were sent to Pakistan, which is a record in the history of Pakistan.
He said that with the cooperation and guidance of the conference participants, we will be able to achieve a prominent position in the world in the IT sector. We are already implementing various projects in this sector at the federal and provincial levels, including IT parks, incubation centers, research and development centers and training.
Pakistan’s first Safe City Lahore project has been implemented in collaboration with the world’s best company. We are providing skill training to 200,000 students annually in collaboration with the Chinese company Huawei.
He invited all investors and companies from North America and elsewhere to work with us to equip agriculture with modern technology, increase exports, promote industry and promote productive employment in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister said that the announcements and commitments made in today’s conference are encouraging.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the Pakistanis who announced to invest $500 million in Pakistan along with their Russian partners. Similarly, he welcomed the announcements of a total of $700 million by Pakistani physicians and others.
He expressed special gratitude to the Secretary General of the Digital Cooperation Organization, Deema Al-Ihia, and other guests and invited all the participants to invest in Pakistan, saying that he would personally guide and strive to turn this dream into a reality.
The Prime Minister said that with unwavering and tireless efforts, Pakistan will stand at the forefront of the world in the IT sector.
