TASHKENT: President Mamnoon Hussain Thursday stressed unity among Muslim countries to counter the negative propaganda against Islam.

“I am a great supporter of Islamic countries that can discourage those who unnecessarily malign Muslims,” the President told media during his visit to the Hazrat Imam Complex in old Sibzar district of Tashkent.

The President said being united could help the Muslim states overcome their numerous challenges.

He lauded the vision of Uzbek President Islam Karimov who had brought development and prosperity to his people.

The President took tour of various sections of the Hazrat Imam Complex, that comprises architectural monuments including the madrasah of Barak Khan, Tilla Sheikh Mosque, mausoleum of the Saint Abu Bakr Kaffal Shashi and the Islamic Institute of Imam al Bukhari.

President Mamnoon also witnessed the world’s famous Quran of Caliph Uthman written in eighth century that has been preserved at the Complex.

The President also visited the Amir Temur Museum which has a collection of more than 3,000 exhibits depicting the ancient history of Uzbekistan.

He evinced keen interest in the historic relating to the life and activity of Amir Temur including his manuscripts, weapons, old clothes, utensils, and coins.
