ISLAMABAD: Chinese President Xi Jinping will be received by President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on his arrival in Islamabad on Monday, officials said.
The Chinese President will be given a 21-gun salute. Two children will give him a bouquet. He will proceed to the Prime Minister’s House for meetings. President Xi and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will hold one-on-one meeting and later lead respective delegations.
Officials will exchange MOUs and agreements. President Xi will unveil plaque of projects at the PM house. Officials will sign agreements and both leaders will witness the signing of agreements.
President Xi and PM will have a press stakeout but will not take questions. Services chiefs will call on the President in a group at the PM house. Later former President Asif Zardari will also call on the Chinese President.
He will later meet the Chinese embassy staff, students and Chinese community. There will be plantation of a sapling and the PM will host banquet. The first day engagements will conclude with a cultural show at the PM house.
On Tuesday the Chinese President will receive the National Assembly speaker and Chairman Senate at the Parliament house who will call on the President in group.
President Xi will unveil a plaque to inaugurate the solar system China will gift for the parliament building. He will enter with PM Sharif to the parliament house around 9: 40 am. Opposition leader will deliver vote of thanks. The speech will end around 10:30.
Mr Xi will then proceed to Presidency for meeting with President Mamnoon Hussain. After one on one meet, both leaders will head delegation-level talks.
Mr Hussain will confer Pakistan’s highest civil award on Mr Xi. That will be followed by luncheon. Mr Xi will depart in the afternoon.
