JEDDAH: President Mamnoon Hussain has reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to standby Saudi Arabia to ensure its territorial integrity and defence and  said the people and government of Pakistan have special feelings for the people of Saudi Arabia and its leadership.

The President said this during meeting with King Salman bin Abdul Aziz here on Thursday night. On arrival at the Palace, the President was warmly  welcomed by Custodian of the two Holy Mosques.

During the meeting, Crown Prince Mohammad bin Naif was present from the Saudi side while the  President was accompanied by Ambassador Manzoorul Haq and Consul General Aftab Khokhar.

King Salman stated that Pakistan is like a brother and the relations between the two countries are time tested and exemplary. He further said the Pakistani community living in Saudi Arabia was very well respected for its conduct and contributions in the development of Saudi Arbaia.

In response, the President appreciated the King’s contributions to the Muslim Ummah in his role as Custodian of the two Holy Mosques.

King Salman stated that it was their duty to serve the Umra and Haj pilgrims and also ensure peace and stability in the Kingdom.

King Salamn appreciated Pakistan’s role and sacrifices in its war against terrorism. He further stated that Saudi Arabia also wanted peace and stability in its neighbourhood including in Yemen but Houthis were destroying Yemen and ousted a legitimate government. They also went to the extent of threatening territorial integrity and solidarity of Saudi Arabia but the people of Saudi Arabia would not permit them to do so.

Matters relating to Pakistan’s relations with neighbouring countries also came under discussion. The President briefed King Salman on various regional initiatives.

The President extended invitation to King Salman to come to Pakistan. He mentioned that H.E’s last visit to Pakistan as Crown Prince had been extremely beneficial and successful for the two countries.
