ISLAMABAD : President Dr Arif Alvi has emphasized the need for strengthening National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to eliminate corruption from society. The President expressed these views during a meeting with Chairman National Accountability Bureau Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal who called on the President on Thursday and presented annual report of the bureau for previous year. He expressed satisfaction over the NAB’s performance.Briefing the President about performance of the NAB, Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said that anti-graft body, last year, recovered various amounts of over Rs141 billion. He said that 747 inquiries and 269 investigations were carried out during the last year. He said success rate of NAB in investigating cases remained 69 percent.
