ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain and caretaker Prime Minister Justice (Retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk have extended their heartfelt felicitations on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his victory in the presidential election.
In their separate messages to the Turkish President, Mamnoon Hussain and Justice (Retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk underscored that the large turn-out and peaceful conduct of parliamentary and presidential elections is a testimony to the strength and vibrancy of Turkey’s democratic values and institutions.
They expressed the hope that the bonds of historic brotherhood between the people of Pakistan and Turkey will continue to grow ever stronger in future.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to continue working with Turkey to expand the existing strategic bilateral relations in all spheres.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan won a new mandate in presidential elections in the first round of voting by winning more than half of the votes, the chief of Turkey´s election authority said Monday.
Head of the Supreme Election Council, Sadi Guven said Justice and Development Party, Republican People’s Party, Nationalist Movement Party, Peoples’ Democratic Party and Good Party have surpassed ten percent threshold in the parliamentary election.
He said the remaining uncounted votes will not affect election results.
Meanwhile, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared his victory in the presidential and parliamentary elections. His ruling AK Party is also leading in parliamentary elections, with 42.4 percent of the vote counted.
