LAHORE: Chairperson of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Sunday while terming the report of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) ‘political’ refused to accept it.
“NAB is working on the pressure of government and PPP do not acknowledge the JIT report,” he declared while talking to media in Lahore.
“The government is targeting the political opponents while pressurizing the institutions. We are not afraid of threats. I have been facing jails since the age of one,” said Bilawal.
The PPP chairman criticized the government saying that he has never seen such incompetent rulers before. “Worst loadshedding is being done in winters. The government has zero performance. The economy is going towards destruction,” he maintained.
Bilawal stressed that all the cases against them are false and fake as specific powers want to malign the party.
“All this was also happening in the life of Zulfqiar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto. Asif Ali Zardari was jailed for 11 years without any crime. We will never compromise over the rules of Bhutto,” he affirmed.
He blamed that JIT has been formed on political basis. “We are responding to political attacks in a political way. Legal issues are being countered in court. They want to use court for political engineering,”
“The JIT report is false and forged, and its purpose was nothing but political engineering”, he said, adding that the PPP had fought against oppression in the past as well and could do so in the future also. “I am hearing about the arrest of Zardari since I was one. We are common and ideological politicians and are not afraid of prisons.”
Bilawal made it evident that PPP is alone enough to tackle the opposition. “We will give tough time to our opponents. They cannot compete against us in election. PPP is not heading towards grand alliance. Asif Zaradri frequently meets Maualan Fazlur Rehman,” he told.
“We are responding legally to the JIT report in the court while countering political attacks through political maneuvering,” Bilawal Bhutto said.
The PPP chairman said that Zardari’s replies to allegations against him were deliberately omitted from the JIT report. Zardari had replied to the JIT in writing, he added.
PPP chairman also bashed Sheikh Rashid saying, “Who will run the trains if Sheikh Rashid begins to criticize on my politics? He should concentrate on his ministry.”=DNA
