KARACHI: A major change is expected in the administrative affairs of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) as the party is reportedly mulling making Asif Ali Zardari as patron-in-chief and Bilawal as sole chairman.
PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira has confirmed the recommendations while Zardari s spokesperson Farhatullah Babar denied it.
According to sources, the former president is likely to assume the role of patron-in-chief of the party while all the powers will be transferred to Bilawal who will become the sole chairman of the party.
The recommendations were made during recent two-day meetings in Dubai. Majority of party members have endorsed the decisions but final approval will take place during CEC meeting.
Sources further told that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will announce party’s next policy on PPP’s foundation day on November 30.
The party leaders have decided not to resign from the assemblies and the option of restoring PPP in its original shape was also reviewed.
