KARACH: In ongoing crackdown against corrupt officials in Sindh, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday jailed Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPA Ali Nawaz Shah and two former lawmakers on corruption charges.
Ali Nawaz Shah is accused of misusing authority when he was serving as the Minister for Agriculture from 2008 to 2013. The court has sentenced him to 5 years in prison.
Another former parliamentarian Imtiaz Ali Shah has been jailed for three years whereas ex-MP Khadim Ali Shah has been sentenced to four years in jail.
The accused have also been directed to pay Rs 500,000 each.
It is pertinent to mention here that recently several prominent politicians belonging to PPP have been rounded up in ongoing anti-corruption operations.
The move has given a massive jolt to the party ahead of the local government elections in Punjab and Sidh.
