PPP, JUI-F at same page against 22nd amendment

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari held a meeting with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman Sunday and exchanged views on Senate elections.

Both leaders discussed the constitutional amendment for the elimination of horse trading in Senate elections and coalition of JUI-F and PPP in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).

Qayyum Soomro, Sherry Rehman, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf from PPP and Akram Durrani, Ata-ur-Rehman and Lutf-ur-Rehman from JUI-F attended the meeting.

Moreover, Asif Zardari also attended the lunch given by Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman at his residence in which barbeque, fry fish, sajji, mutton, kabuli pulao, white rice, daal moong, daal mash, platter, chicken Manchurian, hot and sour soup and kheer was served.

While talking to media, former president Asif Ali Zardari thanked the JUI-F Chief for the lunch and said that the purpose of the meeting was not any political agenda.

He said that nothing is absolute in politics. The people who were sitting outside the assemblies now want to come back.

Talking about elections he said that everyone knows how the elections were conducted but PPP despite of its reservations accepted the results of the elections.

He urged the Election Commission (EC) to work without any external pressure.

He announced that the party will soon issue a white paper on election issues.

Furthermore, he stated that JUI-F, PPP and Awami National Party (ANP) are on the same platform and oppose the 22nd amendment as it cannot be formed in just four days whereas PPP will continue to support the parliament to complete their time span.


On a question regarding Bilawal Bhutto, Zardari stated that no differences exist between him and Bilawal. NNI
