KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have expressed their grave concern over frequent incidents of killings of women in the garb of honour and burning them to death in Punjab.

In a statement issued from PPP Media Cell Sindh Thursday, they said that the menace of honour killing in Punjab has now been quite rampant while the provincial government of Punjab has totally failed to control over the honour killings.

They said that the frequency of such incidents in Punjab is very high but only a few are reported. This alarming situation of torture on women and children in Punjab is very serious and call for concrete mechanism and stern policies so that women and children could stay safe from domestic torture, violence and harassment.

They urged upon the Punjab Chief Minister to pay heed on this gruesome situation of women’s and children’s rights and send the cases of torture on women and children to anti-terrorism courts for speedy justice. NNI
