ISLAMABAD: Politicians from three major political parties on Thursday stressed the need to resolve political issues through dialogue without harming the nascent democracy.
Talking to media after holding a meeting with PM Nawaz Sharif here, leaders of PPP, ANP and NP expressed their firm resolve to promote democratic norms in the country.
PPP Senator Raza Rabbani said, during the meeting, he apprised the PM about party’s stance on prevailing situation, making it clear that it fully supports the existing democratic system.
He opined holding rallies and march were democratic right of every individual but it must be within constitutional parameters.” There should be no element of violence in protests.”
Chief of National Party Hasil Bzinjo said political parties always give preference to dialogue for resolving political differences, adding that following the 1973 Constitution was mandatory for every one.
ANP’s Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour said any unconstitutional demand would be tantamount to treason. “We are with the 1973 Constitution and democratic system and anyone demanding unconstitutional steps is equivalent to treachery.”
Haji Adeel of ANP said the government should initiate political dialogue by taking along all stakeholders to resolve the issue.He said agenda of Dr Tahirul Qadri was beyond his understanding. DNA
