LAHORE: The power crisis continued across the country with shortfall rising to 6,000 megawatts on Monday. The Water and Power Ministry officials said that the power generation is 15,000 megawatts against the demand of 21,000 megawatts.
They said that the demand could increase, saying that the shortfall could touch 6,500 megawatts. As the temperature in different parts of the country is on the rise. They added that the power production could not be increased due to shortage of fuel and problems in the distribution system.
Angry protestors took to the streets in major cities including Karachi, Sukkur,Multan and Faisalabad to register their protest against prolonged power outages.
The protestors blocked traffic and burnt tyres and also chanted slogans against Power distribution companies and the government and asked for urgent measures to be taken against the unannounced load shedding .
