LAHORE: Power shortfall on Friday reached to 5050 megawatt (MW) with unannounced power outages of nine hours in urban areas and 11 hours in rural areas due to escalated pressure on the electricity system.
According to NTDC sources, the electricity demand is 15,600 MW whereas the production is 10550 MW.
The NTDC sources said that power demand is gradually increasing due to warm weather whereas water outflow has not been increased from big dams as a result of which hydroelectric production is not going up.
