LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz are both claiming Ghaffar Gujjar who was killed yesterday (Tuesday) is their activist.
PTI protested while keeping the body of the slain activist on road first outside the press club and then staged a sit-in at Garhi Shahu Chowk.According to details, the PTI in supervision of Punjab Organizer Chaudhry Sarwar, Aleem Khan and other leaders protested against Gujjar’s killing outside the Lahore Press Club with the dead body on the road.
PTI workers chanted loud slogans against the Punjab government and claimed the slain activist was not only a party worker but also a candidate in the upcoming local body elections.
They said the police are involved in the politics and threatened to ‘seal’ the city if culprits are not arrested within forty eight hours.
PTI demanded holding local body elections and by-elections in the city under Rangers’ supervision. They later staged a sit-in while keeping the body at Garhi Shahu Chowk.
The PTI leaders also targeted Inspector General (IG) Punjab and threatened to surround the IG office if the police don’t become ‘impartial’. The protest caused long queues of vehicles and hourly-long traffic jam.
