ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Tariq Fatemi has said, ‘As far as the issue of Kashmir and the current tension with India was concerned, Pakistan’s political and military leadership were on the same page.’
‘Our army is strong and fully motivated, the Prime Minister is in contact with the three services chiefs; if India thinks about any adventure, sanity should be the dominating theme of any such move,’ Tariq Fatemi said while speaking in a TV programme.
He said a unanimous stance adopted by the country’s political forces on Kashmir dispute vis a vis the current tension with India, in the All Parties Conference (APC) held here with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has also sent a strong message to India.
The Joint Statement of APC has also sent a message of support from the people of Pakistan to the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK), who were fighting for their just right of self determination, he added.
Tariq Fatemi said during the APC the leaders of all parties including the Opposition parties were appreciative of the Prime Minister’s address to the UN General Assembly, in which he effectively raised the issue of Kashmir.
To a question, he said, the world should take notice of the continued human rights violations and atrocities being committed by the Indian forces in the Occupied Kashmir.
Tariq Fatemi, in response to another query, said the Indian Foreign Minister’s remarks at UN General Assembly declaring Kashmir as its integral part was negation of the UNSC resolutions.
It was also contrary to the bilateral agreements between India and Pakistan like Simla agreement and Lahore declaration, he added.
To a question, he said, Prime Minister Sharif during his recent visit to New York raised Kashmir issue in bilateral meetings with various leaders of the world and apprised them of the use of brutal force including the pellet guns by Indian Occupied forces against the innocent Kashmiris.
To another question, he said, the government’s policy of sending Parliamentarians as PM’s Special Envoys including from the Opposition to various world capitals was going well, and the Prime Minister would send more envoys in second phase to highlight the issue of Kashmir.
To a question about the postponement of SAARC Summit, which was to be held in Islamabad, due to Indian refusal to attend it, Tariq Fatemi said India has the habit of sabotaging the Summits and had earlier sabotaged various Summits of the regional grouping.
He said SAARC, which was considered as the only vehicle of promoting trade and economic relations among the member states, was being undermined by India due to its hegemonic attitude.
