Political leadership in Pakistan, both sides of LoC hail PM

ISLAMABAD (INP): The political leadership in Pakistan and on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) have commended Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s address at the UN General Assembly saying that it fully reflected the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.


In his address to the UNGA on Friday, Nawaz Sharif made an emphatic call for resolution of Jammu and Kashmir conflict in line with the aspirations of Kashmiri people.


The PML-N leader Raja Zafarul Haq, PML-Z chief Ijazul Haq, JI chief Sirajul Haq, former army chief Mirza Aslam Baig, chairman Kashmir Committee of the Parliament Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Jamiat Ahle Hadith leader Sajid Mir, Senator Zafar Ali Shah, former ISI chief General (R) Hameed Gul, AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed and Hurriyet and other leaders in their statements commended the speech of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the UN and termed it according to the aspirations of the people of Kashmir. They said the Indian media reaction over the prime minister’s speech was unfounded. They said the UN should play its role in resolution of this outstanding problem.


They said Nawaz Sharif has raised the Kashmir issue twice at the UN during the last one and a half years which shows he is the true representative of the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.


Raja Zafarul Haq said by raising the issues of Kashmir and Palestine, Nawaz Sharif has established himself as a leader of the Islamic world. He said the speech of the prime minister was balanced and according to facts on ground.


JI Amir Sirajul Haq said Pak-India relations could not improve without the resolution of the Kashmir dispute. He said the speech of the prime minister reflected Pakistan’s foreign policy priorities and aspirations of the people of Kashmir. He said the PM’s speech was brave, though the PM should also have raised the issue of water aggression by India against Pakistan.
