ISLAMABAD, Sept 17 (INP): Islamabad police on Wednesday requested the acting Chief Commissioner to form a joint investigation team to probe murder case against the eleven accused including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
Last night, a murder was registered when a district judge ordered framing of murder charges against PM Nawaz, CM Shahbaz, Railway Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique, Defence Minister Khwaja Asif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, IG Islamabad, IG Punjab, Deputy Commissioner, SHO Secretariat Police Station and other accused for their alleged involvement in the killing of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) protestors in Islamabad.
Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT), led by Dr Tahirul Qadri, had approached the court for registering of case.
According to reports, at least three people were killed and over 500 injured in clashes with police on August 30 after Tahirul Qadri and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf chief Imran Khan asked their supporters to march toward the official residence of Nawaz Sharif.
According to police, the case number 206 include section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code (intentional murder) and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
It was second murder case against Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif after one filed last month in Lahore for killing of 14 workers of Qadri in clashes with police in June.
The nomination of a person in a case does not affect his legal status but conviction makes people ineligible for any public office in Pakistan.
