Police stations lack basic facilities

RAWALPINDI: several police stations of Rawalpindi district are lacking of basic facilities, a cruel fact that hampering capability of police of countering terrorism and protecting lives and property of public.

All the police stations are located or being run either in dilapidated buildings that were hired on rent. There are no proper sanitation systems in the buildings while police Jawans are living under miserable conditions such as chocked washrooms and facing clean drinking water.

The horrific problem is of force shortage including the ladies police in all the police stations owing to which the female applicants and victims of different crimes face hurdles. Similarly, there is no proper security system in and outside the police stations whereas the arsenal of these stations are empty instead of loaded with automatic weapons to cop any crunch moment or terrorist attack.

A small number of police mobile vans are also seen in use of police Jawans that too given a minimum fuel quota by the government. According to a visit paid by this scribe, around five to six police stations including PS Naseer Abad, PS Pirwadhai, PS Ratta Amral, PS Race Course, PS Morgah and PS Sadar Bairooni are the main police stations of Rawalpindi which are lacking of basic facilities all these police stations are not build on government property they are made on building hired on rent which ?to the Punjab which are not upto  the standard. There is no proper lock up to local criminals and no case property which is the essential need of any police station more over they also don’t have proper security. There is no women police constable seen in any one of the PS more over lack of new weapons and lack of vehicles in police stations seen.

When contacted, SP Pothohar Muhammad Attique Tahir  said that police station in his region are deprived from basic facilitities and in limited resources we are countering terrorism he said that government should take serious notices on the basic issues of police specially government should arrange public building and make model police station in the Rawalpindi region more over on one question by the patriot team that these limited resources can be cause of corruption in police by giving answer to this question he said its absolutely rite that limited resources can cause of corruption in police but he also said that boards are displayed outside every police station if anyone have compliant against behavior of police or any sign of corruption found that person can easy call and tell him  sudden action will be taken on complaint one question that political personalities disturb them during any investigation he replied that its fact but we do our work on merit on survey during PS Naseerabad SHO Ch Jameel said that government should arrange building for police station because the present building was not up to the standard and more over he said that government should gave new weapons, patrolling vehicles and increase our strength  police jawans and also arrange some lady police constable so that lady complained have no issue while longing her complain while talking to the scribe a complainant Asad Ali   who came in police station Naseerabad  to lodge First Information Report of lost of his identity card, said police officer cooperated with him but government should facilitate them in order to get good results from them.
