PESHAWAR: The police foiled a bid to smuggle huge cache of arms to Punjab and arrested two smugglers during snap checking here on Friday.
Chamkani police on a tip-off started snap checking of vehicles. During search of a Punjab bound car at motorway near Peshawar’s Northern Bypass, huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered.
Police arrested two smugglers who in the preliminary interrogation revealed that the arms were being smuggled to Punjab for supplying to the arms dealers there.
The recovered arms included 150 shot guns, four Kalashnikov, six pistols and hundreds of rounds of different bores.
Police confiscated the recovered weapons, ammunition and after registering a case against the nabbed accused started the investigation.
