KARACHI, Oct 20 (INP): Sindh Police have sought Rs 200 million from the home department for arrangements for security during Muharram-ul-Haram in the provincial capital.

Police assessed the amount needed for security in Karachi during Muharram and sent a letter to Home Department in this regard. The letter says that police required Rs 100 million under fuel charges while Rs 50 million needed for arrangement of meals for police personnel deployed across Karachi during the month.

The letter added that remaining Rs 50 million would be spent on repair of vehicles, additional recruitment and other expenditures.

It may be noted here that law enforcement agencies adopt stringent security measures every year during the month of Muharram owing to looming terror threats.
