PESHAWAR, Jan 23 (INP): Police claimed to have arrested 5550 suspects including 1900 afghan nationals during search operation in different parts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province during last one week.
The progress report of search and strike operation in Peshawar by KPK police says that more than 1900 Afghan immigrants were arrested in a week for illegal staying in the province
The report which has been sent to central police office stated that during the operation around 5550 suspects were taken into custody while about 1800 weapons of different kinds and 5700 cartridges were recovered from the suspects.
The progress report maintains that 19, 700 houses and 40, 000 hotels were searched for the presence of suspects while security of 23,557 educational institutions was scrutinized.
The report was sent to relevant Regional Police Officers (R.P.O) and District Police Officers (D.P.O).
It is pertinent to note here that the search and strike operation has been intensified all over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in Peshawar, after the Army Public School attack on December 16, 2014 which resulted in the death of 149 people, mostly children.
