PM’s disqualification case: SC rejects plea of larger bench

SCISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday heard a petition seeking disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and later adjourned the case till Wednesday.  The petition has been filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insafs Ishaq Kakhwani.  The petitioner seeks disqualification of the prime minister on the grounds that he lied at the floor of the Parliament over army’s role in negotiations with PTI and PAT to end the sit-ins.  Today, Justice Jawad S.Khawaja heard the petition in the apex court where PTI counsel Gohar Nawaz Sindhu requested the court to form a larger bench to hear the case.  However, Justice Khawaja rejected Sindhu’s verbal request, saying that it’s only Chief Justice of Pakistan’s authority to form a larger bench.
