RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate for vice chairmanship from Rawalpindi’s Union Council 29 turns out to be a proclaimed offender.
According to details, the accused Tariq Hamid Butt is wanted in multiple cases including perjury, kidnapping and other serious crimes.
Hamid, who is contesting the vice chairman election on PML-N ticket is actually a runaway and proclaimed offender. As per the police sources, Butt is accused of kidnapping a woman with the help of his accomplices.
Among other cases, Butt is also wanted in a Hudood Ordinance case.
A suspected robber Naveed Tahir who is currently in jail was elected as councilor from Lahore’s Union Council 124’s Ward number 6 without any campaign. According to details, suspect Naveed Tahir is currently facing trial for allegedly snatching Rs 16 lakh from excise team.
Tahir was arrested along with accomplice ahead of election. The suspect was even presented before the media on October 28 by Superintendent of Police (SP) Cantonment. According to details, Tahir fled after snatching Rs 16 lakh from excise team two months ago. He managed to secure PML-N ticket and was even elected as councilor after securing 328 votes. Naveed Tahir has reportedly looted various mobile shops at Walton Road as well. The police had arrested him along with accomplice and also recovered Rs 5 lakh and weapons from him.
