ISLAMABAD:A significant breakthrough has occurred regarding the 26th Constitutional Amendment, as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz $ Pakistan People’s Party have backed away from their stance proposing the establishment of constitutional courts. A special parliamentary committee meeting reached an agreement among government coalition parties and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam on the formation of a constitutional bench.
The government and JUI have decided to consult with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on a joint draft, which Maulana Fazlur Rehman will share with PTI leadership.
It may be recalled that on Monday, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman rejected the government’s draft of the constitutional amendment saying that it could potentially infringe on individual freedom.
