HARIPUR: Unknown armed men gunned down leader of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) and candidate of district council, Qazi Sajjad here on Friday and escaped the scene.
Police said that unidentified motorcyclists sprayed bullets at Qazi Sajjad while he was returning after attending a corner meeting in Saraey Saleh area of district Haripur killing him on the spot.
The assailants managed to escape from the scene after committing the crime.
Funeral prayers of the deceased PML-N leader was offered in Sarey Saleh after Jumma prayers and large number of people including party’s district leaders, family members, relatives and dwellers of the area attended the funeral prayers and he laid to rest at ancestral graveyard.
Provincial President PML-N, Pir Sabir Shah has condemned the target killing of the party leader and demanded for bringing the culprits to book.
The police after registering a case against the unknown murderers have started the investigation.
