Prime Minister Imran Khan will be embarking visit to China to witness the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics at the invitation of the Chinese leadership. The visit is scheduled amidst a very critical phase of a history where the world is on the verge of a great economical division and the issues like Afghanistan are still seeking the attention of the global community.
In addition to this, the flagship project between Pakistan and China, the CPEC is successfully on the path of progress and the spoilers, most importantly, our neighbors are tirelessly on the mission of sabotaging it, but failed miserably.
The Foreign Office on Friday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s upcoming visit to China would reinforce the strategic ties between the two countries.
Speaking at the weekly media briefing, FO Spokesman Asim Iftikhar said: “The visit will reinforce the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between our two countries, and further advance the objective of building a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.”
Mr Khan will visit China from Feb 3 to Feb 5 during which he will attend the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics and meet Chinese leaders.
The prime minister’s visit is taking place after nearly two years and will, therefore, provide an opportunity to both sides to have a look at the state of bilateral cooperation and discuss more projects.
The FO spokesman on this occasion again dispelled the impression of slowdown in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the multibillion-dollar infrastructure project, saying it was progressing well.
Prime Minister Imran Khan Saturday while expressing his eagerness to attend the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 during his upcoming visit to China, said that the time-tested ties between the two countries had grown strongly over a period of time.
During an interaction with the Chinese media, the prime minister said both countries had bonds of friendship spanning over a period of 70 years, further cemented with the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He said “There is a feeling in Pakistan that China always stood with us in times of need and supported us during difficult times. Similarly, Pakistan also always stood with China.”
The prime minister also referred to the construction of the Karakorum highway as a vital milestone in the chapter of Pakistan-China friendship. A number of Chinese died during its construction, he added.
To a query, he said that the most impressive thing about China as acknowledged by the entire world was its success in taking 700 million people out of poverty during the last thirty or forty years, adding such huge achievement had never happened before in human history.
This is an important development in the history of the relationship between the two countries and it is the responsibility of the media in particular, and masses in general, to promote the visit of PM positively on every platform of media, as the diplomatic ties between Pak-China are a matter of serious concern for both countries and this is also the need of the hour.
