HAFIZABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Saturday said that State Institutions must respect each other and work by remaining in their constitutional domain.

Addressing a representative gathering here while launching of National Health Insurance  Card scheme, the Prime Minister regretted that people’s representative are called mafia and dacoits, which he said is not acceptable.

“If representatives of 200 million people of Pakistan are given such titles, this is not acceptable to us” the prime minister said in a reference to words used in verdicts against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

He said there is only one accused in the cases i.e. Mian Nawaz Sharif in the last two years and he is being repeatedly targeted despite no proof.  He asserted that political decisions are given by the people through their ballot and the people of Lodhran have given this decision in favour of Nawaz harif and they would do so in the 2018 elections.

The Prime Minister said if the decisions of the parliament of 200 million  people are declared null and void, these would not be acceptable. He said they implemented the verdicts , whether people and history accept them. Similarly, he stressed that the decisions of the Senate and the National Assembly be accepted which is need of the hour.

He said Parliament is the only institution where accountability of politicians is done after every five years where as there is no accountability of other institutions. He said personal likes and dislikes must be set aside and priority be given to the development of the country.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi asked the people to vote for the party and the candidate that have resolved their problems. He said the people’s representative can service either their own interests or the people as they cannot do both the tasks.

He said the PML-N under the leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif had resolved country’s difficult problems including load shedding, gas shortage and said enough gas is available for industrial and domestic consumers as well as for new connections. He said despite many conspiracies and Dharnas, they continued to serve the people.  He said the launching of the National Health Card project is meant for the poorest of the poor.

He said the PML-N government has shown performance and a verdict would be given by the people in July 2018 elections. He said they would welcome the verdict of the people. He said the Senate elections would be held on 3rd March and the PML-N would not allow horse trading. He warned that if there was any attempt to purchase votes, the government would confront such attempts during the elections and after that.

Referring to the demands made by Minister for Health Saira Afzal, the Prime Minister announced that a campus of the university would be set up in Hafizabad in addition to construction of two new roads and provision of new gas connections.

Earlier, addressing the ceremony Minister for National Health Services, Saira Afzal Tarar said PML -N government is committed to adorn the backward areas of the country with basic health facilities.
