Islamabad: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will attend the nuclear security summit during his upcoming visit to the United States said Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria here on Thursday during his weekly news briefing.
The spokesman said Pakistan’s participation in the summit on the prime ministerial level manifests the importance Pakistan attaches to nuclear security.
Regarding the chances of meeting between the prime ministers of Pakistan and India in Washington, the spokesperson said no formal proposal has been received in this regard from the Indian side so far.
Responding to a question about hoisting of Pakistani flags in Occupied Kashmir, the spokesman said it reflects what the Kashmiris want.
Responding to a question regarding the possible presence of Daesh in the country, the spokesman once again rejected any organized presence of Daesh in Pakistan.
He said Pakistan has achieved major successes in the war on terror. He said Pakistan is cooperating with the international community to root out terrorism.
Regarding Afghan peace process, Nafees Zakaria said efforts are underway to bring the Afghan government and Taliban to the negotiating table.
The spokesman emphasized that there is no military solution to the Afghan problem and added that Pakistan has a vital stake for peace and stability in Afghanistan.
