ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Friday demanded that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should tender his resignation for hiding his assets abroad.
Addressing a press conference in Bani Gala he said that PTI has filed a reference in ECP for disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, however, he said, “We don’t expect justice from the ECP.”
Imran Khan said, “PTI would move Supreme Court of Pakistan if ECP does not take action against Nawaz Sharif.”
He lashed out at ECP for not taking a decision against the rich. Imran cited the example of British Prime Minister David Cameron who tendered resignation after a referendum. He added, that the attitude of ECP is harming democracy. “We don’t want democracy to be derailed,” Khan added.
The opposition party has based its argument on the ground that Nawaz Sharif concealed his assets and thus has lost the moral authority to lead the nation.
Imran said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is not a democratic party, adding: “if PML-N had been a democratic party, Maryam Nawaz would not have been sitting at the prime minister house.”
Imran Khan defended the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for allocating Rs 300 million for Darul Uloom Haqqania madrassa saying that seminary Chief Maulana Samiul Haq helped eradicate polio from the region.”
“How can KP government forget the 22,000 children of the province,” he added. Khan said, “We need to reform madrassas if they are breeding terrorists.”
