ISLAMABAD: After his initial three-day deadline for the money transfer failed to materialise, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday issued the authorities a “new deadline” to pay Rs50,000 in compensation to each household impacted by the floods.
The prime minister instructed the officials to provide cash assistance by electronic transfer during a meeting to assess the damage created by flash floods in order to guarantee that the recipients receive their just recompense.
Additionally, he gave orders to the Provinces Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to carry out relief and rehabilitation efforts in southern Sindh’s flood-affected areas.In addition, the prime minister instructed the federal and provincial authorities three weeks to execute a collaborative survey for damage assessment.
The federal government was in touch with foreign donors or other welfare organisations, it was also disclosed at the meeting.
Under the Emergency Disaster Relief Fund, the Asian Development Bank or the World Bank have contributed money for the repair and rehabilitation of flood-affected communities.
