Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday departed for a day-long visit to Quetta, where he is expected to meet the provincial leadership and inaugurate the construction of projects.

The premier will lay the foundation stone of Section One and Section Two of the Khuzdar National Highway, which is currently under reconstruction and is part of the Karachi-Quetta-Chaman Highway. Its two-lane approach would facilitate transportation between major cities of Balochistan.’

PM Shehbaz will also review the administrative affairs of Balochistan, the law and order situation, and particularly look at the implementation of the government’s Ramazan special package.

He will also preside over a meeting regarding the complaint of the sale of essential commodities above stipulated prices and lack of supply of goods.

Shehbaz is also expected to meet public representatives in Balochistan. He is accompanied by Federal Communications Minister Maulana Asad Mahmood, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Balochistan National Party Chairman Sardar Akhtar Mengal.

Earlier this week, the premier visited North Waziristan where he paid rich tributes to the officers and men of the Pakistan Army for their success in breaking the back of terrorism and defeating and degrading all types of terrorist organisations and dismantling their infrastructure.

During his maiden visit to North Waziristan, Shehbaz assured the elders from the former tribal areas that the government would do everything possible to facilitate them and ensure their socio-economic development.
