Emphasizes for passing relief to common man after reduction in POL prices

LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the nation, government and the army are on the same page to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country.

He was talking to the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif who called on him at his residence here on Sunday.  He vowed to defeat the terrorists and make the country peaceful.  He strongly condemned the Shikarpur incident where innocent people were made targets.

The two leaders discussed overall political and economic situation including elections to the vacant Senate seats, appointment of new Punjab Governor and relief to the people in reduction by POL prices.

The Prime Minister said the government is committed to reduce the problems of the people and was taking all possible steps to provide them relief. In this connection he said the POL prices have been reduced thrice in the last three months, inflation has been controlled and job opportunities are being created with the launching of new projects including power generation and building of infrastructure. He emphasised that the provincial governments should take steps to ensure that relief in POL prices is passed on to the end users.

Nawaz Sharif reiterated his commitment to bring an end to loadshedding before 2018.

Punjab Chief Minister informed the Prime Minister about implementation of National Action Plan and said the establishment of Anti-Terrorism Force in the province is part of the plan.  He said large number of suspected people have been arrested and they are being interrogated. He said innocent people would be released but those found involved in terrorist activities would be punished according to law of the land.

Sources said the PM and the CM agreed that new faces should be given a chance in the Senate elections while committed party leaders would also be given tickets.

They further took the issue of new Governor of Punjab under discussion and agreed to appointment the new government as soon as possible.
