PM meets MQM delegation; says law enforcement agencies directed to only target terrorists

DNA27-91ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said the people of Karachi have already suffered a lot and it is the moral obligation of all political parties to make sincere efforts to restore peace and stability in the metropolitan city.

He said this while talking to a delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) which called on him at the PM House here Friday.

The Prime Minister said operation in Karachi was started with the consensus of all parties and would continue till the elimination of all criminal elements in the city.

He said the operation is not against any particular party or group and the law enforcement agencies have been directed to target terrorists and criminals across the board to rid the people of this menace.

The Prime Minister said PML-N does not believe in the policy of confrontation. We have struggled for the restoration of democracy and for upholding the rule of law having learnt a lot from the past. We have faced extremely difficult times but did not compromise on our principles, he said.

The delegation comprised MNAs Dr. Muhammad Farooq Sattar, Mr. Abdul Rashid Godail and Mr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

Federal Ministers for Information, Mr. Pervaiz Rashid and Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafiq as well as Political Secretary to PM, Dr. Asif Kirmani were present during the meeting.
