Says ‘Today world is seeing a Naya Pakistan’
KARACHI: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that motorways and highways are essential for promotion of national cohesion and reaching the destination of development.
He was addressing a ceremony held in connection with inauguration of the first phase of seventy five kilometer long completed section of Karachi Hyderabad motorway M-9 today. He said the Karach-Hyderabad motorway will be completed by August this year and the entire Karachi-Peshawar motorway having six lanes will be ready by 2019.
He said the Karachi-Peshawar motorway will not only reduce travelling time but also bring the people of Pakistan closer to each other. He expressed his appreciation that work is going apace on motorway between Karachi and Hyderabad pointing out that more than 60% work has been completed. He said the Multan-Sukkur motorway is in progress and people are witnessing a Naya Pakistan emerging fast.
Nawaz Sharif emphatically stated that all the promises made in the election manifesto will be fulfilled. Highlighting the significance of motorways, the Prime Minister said development of modern infrastructure is imperative for the development of the country. “Any country in the world that has become modern started with creating better infrastructure… and Pakistan could have seen the progress that we started in 1999 had we not been stopped halfway through,” he said.
“Today, people are witnessing a naya Pakistan being built,” Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said. “Motorways are no longer a distant dream. All promises will be fulfilled by 2018.” In an indirect reference to PTI chairman, Imran Khan, the Prime Minister those travelling by chartered planes and helicopters cannot understand the importance of roads which are essential for the people of the country.
He said there is need for vision and spirit and said the Tamee-i-Pakistan journey started three years ago which the country was about to go bankrupt, no jobs for the youths, is now progressing satisfactorily. Nawaz Sharif said that the entire network of motorways from Peshawar to Karachi will be completed by 2019. He said people who are bent upon creating uncertainty among the people in the name of religion were not sincere to the nation. He said we have to secure the nation from such elements.
The Prime Minister said the economy is being put on its feet and this is being recognised by international institutions and they are describing Pakistan as an emerging economy while investors have started looking towards the country.
“Load shedding will end completely in 2018. Solar power and wind mill projects are being created. We are looking ahead, thinking of the future requirement for power,” he added.
“These are the problems we are focusing on, we don’t have time for dharnas,” he said in a veiled reference to his opposition. He challenged the opposition to compete against him on the basis of progress and development. Nawaz Sharif said CPEC has crossed several phases and thousands of youths are getting jobs and tens of thousands will get more jobs with progress on different projects. “The world is witnessing the emergency of a Naya Pakistan” the Prime Minister remarked.
The six lane 75-kilometre completed section of the 136-kilometre Motorway has four interchanges, including Dada Bhoy, Industrial Valley, Nooriabad and Thano Bola Khan Interchange. These interchanges will provide access to various areas, including Keer Thar National Park, Jhampeer, Kinjhar Jheel and Thano Ahmed Khan.
