ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the country needs to divert attention towards tourism and bring forward its real potential. The Prime Minister said this on Wednesday while chairing a meeting on reviving the tourism sector in the country. The Prime Minister decided to form a coordination committee and remove all encroachments from tourist spots. “We have to improve the situation at tourists spots across the country,” he said, adding that these places would promote the culture and traditions of the country locally and internationally. “We will be providing improved facilities to tourists at these spots,” the Prime Minister said as such activity would improve economic activity and generate employment opportunities for locals. The Prime Minister also directed the concerned authorities to properly utilize government infrastructure for promoting tourism in the country and stressed upon the need to effectively utilize historical places, governor houses and guesthouses for the purpose. The coordination committee headed by Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Development Zulfi Bukhari will work for promoting tourism in the country. The committee would meet after every week and would further brief Prime Minister Imran Khan over the progress made on the development of tourism in the country after every 14 days. The meeting was also decided to remove encroachment from all tourist spots in the country as the Premier directed the provinces to take adequate measures in this regard. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the government will provide every possible facility to the youth to get employment, and make them stakeholders for strengthening the economy. The Prime Minister was talking to Special Assistant of Youth Affairs Usman Dar and Advisor on Finance Hafeez Sheikh in a briefing on Kamyab Jawan Programme here on Wednesday. The Prime Minister directed that disbursement of funds among the youth under Kamyab Jawan Programme should be completed at a fast pace in a transparent manner. Imran Khan said that he himself is monitoring the Kamyab Jawan Programme, which is of vital importance to end negative impacts on the country’s economy due to the coronavirus pandemic. Expressing satisfaction over progress in the programme, the Prime Minister asked Usman Dar to present a review report to him every month. The Prime Minister was briefed that so far Rs1 billion have been distributed among the youth.
