ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed that Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Project (QASPP) be completed by April 2016 to enable the country to meet energy shortage at the earliest.
He said this while chairing a meeting reviewing progress of the 900-MW solar power generation project, which is prioritized under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), in Lahore, the PM office said.
Representatives of Zonergy, the Chinese company working on QASPP, MD NTDC and officials from Punjab government participated in the meeting.
The Prime Minister was briefed that 50 MW of the project will be completed byAugust 14, 2015 while a total of 300 MW will be operationalized by December 31, 2015.
Zonergy had earlier committed to complete the project by September 2016 but now, under the directions of the Prime Minister, its representative assured that it will be completed by the first week of April 2016. Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was also present in the meeting. DNA
