PM chairs high-level meeting on security

ISLAMABAD:  Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting inIslamabad Friday to review security situation in the country.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Advisor to PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, COAS General Raheel Sharif, and Director General ISI attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar briefed the participants regarding law and order situation in the country.

The participants deliberated upon regional security, especially Afghan situation and Pak-Afghan relations.

According to reports, the meeting also discussed implementation of National Action Plan, progress in operation Zarb-e-Azb and issue of extension in Rangers’ powers in Sindh.

The civil and military leadership lauded Rangers’ role in restoring peace in Karachi.
