During 1886 the US offered two options to France, either to gift EiffelTower or Statue of Liberty to America as a token of friendship. In post 9/11 environment the US also offered two options to Pakistan either to support them in their war against terror or become party of America’s enemies. There was neither a third option for France in 1886 nor for Pakistan in post 9/11 except to accept the US preferred options in both cases. France gifted Statue of liberty and Pakistan opted to side with the US as a non-NATO partner.
This jogs our memory of the a report, titled as ‘Body Count: Casualty Figures after ten years of the War on Terror”, released some time back by the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War along with Physicians for Social Responsibility and Physicians for Global Survival. According to the report prepared unanimously by these three organizations, more than 80,000 Pakistanis, including over 48,000 civilians, have been killed in the decade-long US-led or US sponsored war against terror in the country alone. The report, dealing with the conflict from 2004 until the end of 2013, shows that a total of 81,325 to 81,860 persons including 48,504 civilians, 45 journalists, 5,498 security personnel have lost their lives and 26,862 militants have been perished in the counter terror operations that does not include casualties took place as a result of drone attacks conducted by the CIA. This report also said that around 1.3 million people were directly and indirectly killed in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan as a result of US-led wars in the regions during the same period. More than One and half million people were killed in Iraq and 250,000 in Afghanistan as a result of the war. Interestingly these figures compiled by the authentic western researchers and organizations reveal that the wars have annihilated more than two million human beings incidentally belonging to few of the Muslim countries.
These figures are about casualties that occurred as a result of direct operations involving the US/NATO/ISAF forces or indirect counter and anti terrorism maneuvers through proxies under legitimate or illegitimate powers in respective war theatres arranged by the US. However the casualties and disabilities occurred from polio specifically in Pakistan due to limiting factors imposed by the tangible and intangible curbs by the US and its spy agency’s counter terrorism policies is still unaccounted for. Similarly exact figures about material losses and multitude of societal impact on both genders of humans including young, elderly, women and more importantly children are also missing and hardly researched by organizations that are concerned about a potential or assumed nuclear conflict in South East Asia specifically between Pakistan and India. According to a new study, a sort of turnaround that has surprised many including the US, WHO and Indians too, about Pakistan’s overwhelming control its polio epidemic, that was in effect the direct result CIA’s fake vaccination venture to get DNA of Osama bin laden through a Pakistani doctor who sold his loyalties for some money.
A new study has revealed that eighty five percent decline has taken place in new polio cases this year resulting into boosting confidence that Pakistani officials are on pace to stop the spread of the virus as early as next year as a consequence of robust policies like National Action Plan implemented by the security structure of Pakistan in its true letter and spirit. Pakistan has suffered hugely due to the foreign sponsored terror groups and pseudo counter terror operations including fake polio vaccinations sponsored by the global powers. Pakistan can now achieve many goals a result of home-made policies against terrorism while also enabling the WHO to see the world a major step towards becoming polio-free. The revelation that the CIA had used a fake vaccination campaign to gain intelligence on the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden in 2011 had been a huge blow to Pakistan’s efforts against the disease, especially in areas where militant groups were herded into by an array of powers. After the made in Pakistan policies and strategies implemented by the Armed forces of Pakistan the militants have been sorted out, health officials are vaccinating hundreds of thousands of children for the first time.
The 70th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) took place in New York City during October and around 155 global leaders were in attendance. After being absent for almost ten years from the UNGA, Russian President Vladimir Putin also delivered a speech along with Cuban President Raul Castro. Focus of the global leaders was on sustainable development and international security; mostly dealing with the Syrian-Iraqi conflict with Islamic State, the Ukrainian conflict, and the Afghan insurgency. Leaders were in effect also expected to find solution to the ensuing problem of great exodus of refugees crisis primarily resulted from the unrest in Syria grounded in the failed and ill-conceived American policies of regime change. How much work has been done to make this globe safe after the assembly of global leaders at the UN is apparently reflected in the Paris carnage and more may be in pipeline to haunt other countries of the Europe until these global leaders sincerely start playing fare and impartial games about resolving contagious issues of peace and security concerns in South East Asia and Middle East rather than thumping on a matter related to nuclear parity that in effect ensures safety against another human catastrophe as caused due to fifteen years long counter terror operations by the global game players.
